  • pregnant women - with a pregnancy period of more than 32 weeks;

  • newborns are accepted for transportation only at the age of over 7 days of life and accompanied by their mother, father or another passenger responsible for the baby.
The need for coordination

When buying an air ticket and booking seats, it is necessary to pre-arrange with the airline the transportation of a pregnant woman, a woman after childbirth or a newborn baby.

A pregnant woman herself determines the possibility of using air transport and takes into account the possible threat to her health or the health of a (future or newborn) baby, based on her well-being or the well-being of the baby during transportation.

The procedure for processing documents for the transportation of pregnant women, postpartum women and newborns:

Based on the information orally provided by the pregnant passenger at check-in, if the pregnancy is up to 26 weeks old, the passenger must personally fill out and sign an application for the airline's exemption from liability for transporting pregnant women.

Application for the airline's exemption from liability

In this case, she does not need to have a certificate from her attending physician about pregnancy and health status.

If the passenger's pregnancy period, stated by her at check-in, is from 26 weeks to 32 weeks inclusive, the passenger must personally fill out and sign the above-mentioned application for the airline's exemption from liability for transporting pregnant women, as well as additionally provide a certificate of pregnancy and health status.

Such a certificate must be issued at a medical institution and stamped by the passenger's attending (practicing) doctor. The certificate must contain information about the duration of pregnancy, its type (single or multiple), the nature of the course (normal, complex), the absence of pregnancy pathologies and risks that prevent the possibility of its transportation by air.

When registering for transportation of a newborn, it is necessary to provide a birth certificate (maternity hospital certificate). A medical certificate on the health status of an infant over the age of 7 days of life is not required.

It is prohibited to transport pregnant women whose physical or mental condition does not allow them to move quickly (if necessary) in a row at the emergency exit and places where emergency rescue equipment is located.

Do not forget that the flight can negatively affect the health of the mother and child. Do not put yourself and your baby at unnecessary risk — consult a doctor before traveling and take into account his recommendations. Make sure that your hand luggage has everything you need for a comfortable flight. Arrive at the airport in advance so that you can go through all the formalities without haste.
